HOLIDAY ISLAND - TREE CITY USA - 18 YEARS!
Dan Kees, Mayor of Holiday Island signed the Proclamation declaring November 4, 2023 as Arbor Day celebrating Holiday Island Tree City USA, 17 years!
Tree City USA is a community Improvement program sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation. In Holiday Island, we became a Tree City in 2006 thanks to Dottie Hill, Nick Roster, Cheryl Pierson, Bruce Larson and Pamela Teslow, then Suzanne Childers and most recently by Donna Grimes with the tremendous support of the Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District (HISID). The 18th year will be ushered in by President Peggy Lodewyks , VP Carrie Buchanan and Treasurer DJ Diggs,
“It's a matter of civic pride,” said Lodewyks “People generally love trees and when our lakeside community earns the Tree City USA distinction for the 18thyear, it is a sign that our elected officials, our city and district employees, and our residents take pride in planting and nurturing trees as a priority.”
